A modern, blood-type stallion bred in the purple and one of the most popular stallions in Belgium.
Luigi impressed right from the start of his career. He competed very successfully in the young horse classes with many placings both on the national and international circuit, including winning the 7-year-old final in Beerveld.
He currently competes at 1.45m with many successes to date and continues to show his talents in high level classes.
Luigi is by the great Catoki (semen also available through Iconic Sires) who was part of the 2011 winning Nations Cup team at Hickstead, and won and placed in grands prix all over the world. Catoki has sired many grand prix winners including Catch Me If You Can (member of the Bronze medal winning team at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the winner of the Nations Cup in Aachen), Contanga 3 (winner of the London CSIW GP) and Catypso (World Cup finalist).
Luigi’s dam, Eluna d’Eclipse, jumped at grand prix level and is out of Belgium Champion Aluna who was a big international winner with Niels Bruynseels. Her pedigree combines the illustrious sires Capitol, Landgraf, and Cor de la Bryere, and comes from the same damline as Verdi TN and Bubalu.
Luigi is the ultimate prototype of the modern sporthorse. He is a top athlete with a huge striding canter. He’s very intelligent and passes this trait onto his offspring together with lots of blood, nobility and plenty of scope.
Luigi can be used on a lot of different stamps of mares as he passes on his type, as well as his athletic potential. He especially compliments medium sized mares with a lot of blood but can just as easily be used on old fashioned types with not enough blood and sharpness. He will also add size to shorter mares.
