Iconic Sires and Breeding Services offers South African stallion and mare owners a wealth of international experience in the equine breeding.

Leandro VG

Leandro offers a combination of speed, reflexes, flexibility and an incredible winning mentality.

This young stallion’s rise through the ranks has been exceptional. As a seven-year-old he won the Pavo Stallion Competition, and at the age of eight he’d already jumped clear in his first Longines Ranking classes (1m45-1m50). He was second in the CSI** Grand Prix of Lier and 7th in the Sires of the World in Lanaken and only a year later he was fourth in the CSI** Grand Prix of Ghent!

A serious injury was thought to have brought his competitive career to an end, however he thankfully pulled through and was soon back in the ring with Jeroen De Winter impressively competing in the 1.50m classes.

Gitano van Berkenbroek, like his son Leandro, had a great start to his competition career. As a seven-year-old he won the Youngster Tour at CSIO Rome in 2013 and as an eight-year-old, he had already competed at GP level with Italian rider Juan Carlos Garcia. He jumped clear in two 1.50m classes at Aachen 2015 and won the GP of San Giovanni in Marignano. He won in Verona and placed at GP in Arnhem, Linz, Vermezzo,…

Leandro’s dam, Corsica VG Z, is a daughter of Chellano Z, who Leandro inherited his extraordinary reflexes from. Chellano Z was the top sire at Zangersheide Stud before his early death. Corsica is also the dam of the Zangersheide stallion Querido VG Z ridden by Christian Ahlmann.

Leandro comes from the strong “Odessa” line of the Van Gorp family.
